Tierp in Uppland is the new main venue for the Midnight Sun Rally 2026

The Midnight Sun Rally is one of Europe’s leading historical rally competitions, dating back to 1950. In 2025, it was held successfully in Katrineholm and Södermanland, with the base at Ericsberg Castle. In 2026, the competition will build on this success as it moves to Tierp in Uppland from July 2 to 4.

The 2026 edition includes many exciting new features:

  • Start, service, and finish at Tierp Arena.
  • Opening stage at Tierp Arena on the evening of Thursday, July 2.
  • Six stages on Friday and seven on Saturday. A total of 410 kilometers, including 140 kilometers of special stages.
  • Both noted and non-noted rally classes.
  • Spectacular start for Regularity in central Stockholm.

The Royal Swedish Automobile Club (KAK) organized the 2025 edition of Midnight Sun Rally together with the Katrineholm Motor Club and cooperating clubs in Södermanland. A total of 145 classic rally teams participated in the appreciated event.

However, renovations at Ericsberg Castle have led the Royal Swedish Automobile Club (KAK) in conjunction with Katrineholm MK, to decide to change the host city for 2026.

  • We would like to extend a big thank you to Katrineholm MK, all the volunteers, and Ericsberg Castle for a very successful rally in 2025 and we look forward to working together with MK Tierp for the upcoming events, says Jacob Laurin, Secretary-General of KAK.

  • We look back on a fantastic Midnight Sun Rally in Katrineholm in 2025 and are very pleased that, through the Katrineholm Motor Club, we have been able to find a new organizer in MK Tierp. Together, we look forward to further developing both the competition, the event, and the classic car culture in the summer of 2026, says Johan Söderlind, KAK Motorsport.

  • The Midnight Sun Rally is over for this time. We enjoyed conducting this rally together with KAK. However, we must abstain in 2026 due to renovations at Ericsberg Castle. But a new capable organizer will conduct the Midnight Sun Rally 2026 in a similarly professional manner, says Crister Nystrand, Katrineholm Motor Club.

Experienced club MK Tierp in Uppland takes over the organization together with KAK, and the plans for 2026 are already well advanced.

  • We are proud to have received the trust of the Royal Swedish Automobile Club to organize the Midnight Sun Rally 2026 based at Tierp Arena, says Jörgen Joons from MK Tierp, who is also the project manager for Midnight Sun Rally 2026.

  • The rally will kick o] on Thursday, July 2, with registration and scrutineering starting at 10:00, followed by an initial special stage inside the arena at 18:00. On Friday, there will be three stages in the morning, a service break at the arena, and then three new stages in the afternoon. On Saturday, another seven stages will be run, with the last stage finishing inside Tierp Arena. In total, the rally will cover 410 kilometers, of which 140 kilometers are special stages distributed over 14 stages, continues Jörgen Joons.

The base for the competition will be Tierp Arena, located about 50 minutes north of Uppsala. It is a highly regarded motorsport arena that has been used for the European Championships in drag racing, STCC, RallyX Nordic, drifting competitions, and the Swedish Championship in rally.

  • It is with great pleasure that we now announce that Tierp Arena will be the start location for the 2026 edition of Midnight Sun Rally. We look forward to welcoming both competitors and the public to an unforgettable weekend filled with action and experiences for the whole family. The rally is expected to attract an incredibly large number of participants from across Sweden and Europe, ensuring a strong and varied starting field, says Nicklas Karlsson, CEO of Tierp Arena.

Spectacular Opening of Regularity in Central Stockholm

The Regularity class in the Midnight Sun Rally 2026 will have classic and historically charged opening – right in the heart of Stockholm. Already on the evening of Wednesday, July 1, participants will gather for a joint dinner with the Royal Swedish Automobile Club in the capital, before the rally starts on Thursday morning, July 2, from central Stockholm.

With the royal capital as the backdrop, the start will be a unique tribute to the classic Swedish Rally to the Midnight Sun, which had its o]icial start in Stockholm. This is a way to connect to the rich history of the competition and the KAK, and to bring the culture of historic cars into the heart of the city.

After the start, the regularity teams will head north through a beautiful Uppland landscape before reaching Tierp Arena on Thursday evening. There, the rally's initial arena stage will be held together with the other classes, marking the beginning of the shared continuation of the rally.

– The Regularity class has always been a valued and important part of the Midnight Sun Rally. That we are now taking a step further and linking to our heritage and history with a ceremonial start in Stockholm feels both symbolic and very inspiring, says Jacob Laurin, Secretary-General of the Royal Swedish Automobil Club (KAK).

The invitation to KAK Midnight Sun Rally 2026 will be released on Sunday, February 1, and registration will open on Sunday, March 1 at 13:00. The entry fee will be 12,500 SEK, including 6% VAT.
